A cool and useful thing you can do in xenForo is to follow users. This is particularly useful if there are members in Frackers that regularly post content you like. Every time they make a post or have other activities in the forum, you will be notified about it in your News Feed page and your alerts menu.
If you use Twitter, the News Feed page serves exactly the same purpose as the Twitter feed does. It will show all the activities of the people you follow.
To follow a member simply visit their profile and click on the "Follow" link on the right side of their profile.
To access your News Feed hover over your username on the top right of the forum and then go to Alert Preferences > Your News Feed. It will look like this:
Conversations in xenForo is what in vBulletin we knew as private messages. This new system is more advanced and also more user-friendly. It allows you to edit your messages and invite others to participate.
You can also keep a conversation going indefinitely and you can resume it anytime you want by simply replying like you would in a normal thread, you don't have to start a new conversation with someone every time you want to send them a private message (although you can if that's what you want.)
You can start a conversation with someone by either clicking on their username and using the 'Start a Conversation' link on the popup window, like this:
Or by going into your inbox and clicking on the 'Start a New Conversation' button:
Then you can add the username (or usernames separated by a comma) of the member(s) you want to send the private message to:
We upgraded search a while ago and the above settings don't always work the same. Sometimes you'll get results not checking the 'Search titles only' box; so you can try both if you don't get results with one of them.
One of the coolest xenForo features is its Alerts System. Using this system you can be notified when a new thread is posted in a forum you're watching, when there are new posts in a thread you're watching, when someone quotes one of your messages, when you are mentioned, when someone follows you, etc.
It's a really useful system that allows you not to miss anything that might interest you in Frackers.
To customize what and how to receive alerts, hover your mouse over your username on the top right part of the forum (or here):
Once on the Alert Preferences page, you can choose what alerts to receive and you can also see all the alerts you've received recently.
If you are a content provider, it's a good idea to disable the "Quotes your message" option or you will receive dozens of these alerts a day and they might push back other important alerts.
